Australian comedian's new podcast satire series launches on Stan and Nine
Comedian Simon Taylor, who performed stand-up on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, created a six-episode comedy series satirising celebrity podcast culture.
Simon Taylor's new comedy series The Sonny Disposition launches on Stan and Nine next week. The workplace comedy follows a fictional podcast host desperate to move from third to first place in the rankings, with his dysfunctional team scrambling to chase celebrity guests and merchandise deals.
Taylor both created and directs the show, working with writer-producer Josh Samuels. The script moves fast.
The jokes land without being laboured. The characters ring true even for viewers outside media.
Taylor is an established comedy writer and stand-up who wrote for Jay Leno and Shaun Micallef. He was the first Australian stand-up to perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
He came up with the concept in 2025 when an empty office became available. He wrote and filmed a pilot in six weeks.
