Ford Ranger Super Duty gets luxury interior with heated seats

Ford adds luxury to its Ranger Super Duty work ute with leather and heated seats.

The Ranger Super Duty is Ford's answer to the rugged Toyota Land Cruiser 70. Designed in Australia for mining, forestry and emergency services, it has a stronger chassis and steel wheels.

Now Ford has added a softer variant with carpet, leather and climate-controlled seats. Two kinds of buyers want this model.

Private owners with caravans or horses want comfort on long trips. Work bosses want capable crew vehicles with a nicer ride for themselves.

The engine is detuned for torque, and the transmission is smoother. The downside is it is over two metres wide, which is tight for city driving.

It is also underpowered for its weight. But for buyers who need capability with comfort, it delivers.
