Henderson scores twice in Chelsea rout of Bournemouth
Jordan Henderson, 36, scored twice in his home debut as Chelsea demolished Bournemouth 4-1.
Jordan Henderson struck first after 68 seconds when Cole Palmer floated into the area and rolled the ball to him. Henderson hit it first time with the inside of his right foot, the ball bending in off the post.
Henderson scored again from distance before half-time. The 36-year-old, who joined from Brentford over summer, set the tempo with driving passes and urgent tackling alongside midfielder Moisés Caicedo, back after a calf injury.
Palmer and João Pedro added further goals. Chelsea moved to fifth place with their first win in four league games.
Manager Xabi Alonso said Henderson was brought in to lift standards in the dressing room, but his goalscoring and playmaking delivered a bonus.
