Essendon finishes season with worst record in club history after Port defeat

Essendon's 2-21 season ended with a loss to Port Adelaide, marking the club's worst year ever.

Essendon finished with just two wins from 23 games, the worst record in the AFL club's history. A 105-95 defeat to Port Adelaide in their final match ended any hope of a final victory.

Nate Caddy kicked six goals for the Bombers, but it was not enough. The club will install a new full-time coach as it attempts to rebuild.

Why it mattersEssendon will now face off-season questions about player retention, including former captain Zach Merrett, who has previously sought a trade.
