They could not safely bring tens of thousands of attendees, artists, crew and equipment onto the Great Lawn. The same Atlantic storm system forced Ed Sheeran to cancel his shows in Massachusetts.
The All Things Go festival in Queens was also canceled. The Global Citizen Festival was set to feature Ms. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean, Lainey Wilson, Shaboozey, Lenny Kravitz, John Legend and Alicia Keys, plus others.
Hugh Jackman was hosting. Food prepared for the festival will be donated to New York organisations serving the city.
