Man swept from vehicle dies in NT flood aftermath
A 60-year-old man was swept off a vehicle roof into NT floodwaters near Alice Springs. He has been found dead.
The man was discovered on Saturday afternoon near Santa Teresa, about 10km from where he was last seen on Wednesday night. The man and a woman had climbed onto their vehicle, which became stuck in a swollen creek about 80km southeast of Alice Springs.
The woman walked to the Aboriginal community of Santa Teresa and reported him missing. This triggered an intensive search and rescue operation.
The region had faced severe thunderstorms and flash flood warnings. Roads were heavily affected.
A report into the man's death will be prepared for the Northern Territory coroner.
