Up to 400 teenagers overwhelm police at Halloween party in Hampton Park

About 400 teenagers descended on a Hampton Park home for a Halloween party that spiralled into destruction, forcing police air support.

A 16-year-old's Halloween party in Melbourne's southeast turned into chaos when hundreds of uninvited guests arrived and overwhelmed the property and neighbourhood. Bottles were hurled at police vehicles, letterboxes destroyed and fences damaged across the area.

The public order response team and air wing were called as the mayhem spilled into a nearby park and local McDonald's. One neighbour described the scene as a nightmare.

By Saturday morning, the street was littered with empty bottles and cans. The party host said adults were home but lost control when crowds kept arriving.

He has now promised to clean up and apologise to affected neighbours.
