Australian sentenced to five months jail for assaulting Singapore police
Morris David, 52, received five months and six weeks jail plus S$5,000 fine for spitting and urinating at officers.
An Australian man was sentenced Friday after a 32-hour rampage of abuse and assault against Singapore police and airport staff. Morris David, 52, spat at officers multiple times, with saliva landing on their faces and uniforms.
Morris David urinated in the direction of two officers from his hospital bed after his arrest. David also hurled vulgarities, threatened to defecate on officers and tried to bite one.
His behaviour started when he arrived at Changi Airport with head injuries from a Bali accident and became agitated over lounge access and medical costs. District Judge Sharmila Sripathy-Shanaz noted his sustained belligerent, abusive and aggressive behaviour toward public servants doing their duty.
His lawyers said he is remorseful and ashamed. He received five months and six weeks jail plus up to S$5,000 fine.
