Powerhouse Parramatta opens November 7 with 23-day festival
A world-class cultural building opens in Parramatta on November 7.
Powerhouse Parramatta is known locally as 'the milk crate' because of its unique lattice design. It covers 30,000 square metres.
It has up to six storeys on the Parramatta River. The opening festival runs for 23 days.
It has 179 events including workshops, food, music and live performances. General admission is free for all ages.
Five major exhibitions open, including works by artist Es Devlin and a First Nations water-focused exhibition. One aerospace exhibition requires a separate ticket ($20 to $30).
The museum will show about 3,000 objects. This includes 1,600 from its own collection.
Opening weekend tickets have sold out. But festival event tickets are still available.
Visitors can also visit a rooftop garden, a demonstration kitchen and a library.
