CPSU rejects 9% pay offer as members vote overwhelmingly against it
The CPSU rejected the government's 9% pay offer after 90% of more than 20,000 members voted against it.
The Community and Public Sector Union has formally rejected the Federal Government's 9% pay rise proposal. More than 20,000 members took a snap poll, with almost 90% voting no. The offer was 3.2% from next March, then 3% in 2028 and 2.8% in 2029.
The government also proposed extra pay boosts for lower-paid staff to close gaps between departments. Union secretary Rebecca Fawcett said public servants deserve better.
"Trained and trusted workers go above and beyond to deliver vital services," she said. "The government must tell the APSC to make a better offer."
The union had claimed 15% over three years, citing low pay and cost-of-living pressure.
