Kia's EV and hybrid mix meets Australia's emissions standard
Kia says its existing electric and hybrid vehicles keep it in credit under the Federal emissions standard without needing more plug-in hybrids.
Kia Australia says its current mix of electric vehicles and hybrids keeps it in credit under the Federal Government's New Vehicle Efficiency Standard without requiring more just plug-in hybrid models. The company currently only sells one PHEV, the Sorento, alongside hybrid versions of the Seltos, Sportage, and Carnival.
According to Kia's product planning manager, the balance of EVs, hybrids, and regular engines keeps the brand compliant with emissions rules. The company is open to future PHEVs but sees no urgent need.
To the end of September, PHEV sales have grown by 124 per cent. EVs hold 18.9 per cent market share and hybrids 16.7 per cent.
