Toyota will bring back the HiLux GR Sport in 2027. The new model will be a high-performance ute to challenge the Ford Ranger Raptor.
The current HiLux launched in Australia in December 2025 without the GR Sport. Andrew Kirby, head of Toyota South Africa, confirmed the model is coming, saying 2027 would bring an 'exciting product'.
The old GR Sport arrived in 2023 at $73,990, above the current top HiLux Rogue and Rugged X at $71,990. The new version is expected to have a more powerful diesel engine, unique body, and better suspension for off-road use.
The HiLux is Australia's second-best-selling vehicle.
