South Africa recalls 'Rolls-Royce' Rabada for second Test against Australia

South Africa has dropped Tristan Stubbs and Kyle Verreynne, recalling pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada for Sunday's second Test.

South Africa have made significant changes for the second Test against Australia on Sunday. Tristan Stubbs has been dropped and Kyle Verreynne has lost the wicket-keeper gloves after poor performances in the opening Test.

Ryan Rickelton will take the gloves and may move down the batting order. Matthew Breetzke has been included in the squad after scoring a century in the ODI series, though his Test record is thin.

The key move is recalling Kagiso Rabada, South Africa's pace spearhead who is recovering from a hamstring tear. Coach Shukri Conrad described Rabada as the team's "Rolls-Royce" and hopes his return will fire up the attack.

South Africa have beaten Australia at this venue, St George's Park, in both 2014 and 2018. Conrad has noted the team's batsmen must show greater perseverance against Australia's bowling pressure.

Why it mattersRabada's return could be the difference in a series South Africa can win at a venue where they have beaten Australia before.

AustraliaAustralia faces a tougher Proteas lineup with a fully fit Rabada for Sunday's second Test in Gqeberha, potentially shaping the series outcome.
