Shoebridge and Hodgins-May bid for Greens leadership
Two senators announced a joint ticket to lead the Greens after Larissa Waters resigned.
David Shoebridge and Steph Hodgins-May announced a joint leadership bid on Wednesday morning. Shoebridge is a former barrister who moved to federal politics in 2022.
Shoebridge leads the party on defence and AI matters. Hodgins-May has served for two years and led the Greens' gas tax campaign.
Shoebridge and Hodgins-May are running against deputy leader Mehreen Faruqi and possibly Nick McKim. Sarah Hanson-Young is the longest-serving federal Green.
She may run alone. The party will vote on new leadership mid-morning Wednesday at its Sydney retreat.
