Ballarat council cuts three directors in management restructure
Three long-serving department heads have lost their jobs. The City of Ballarat is cutting from five directorates to four.
The restructure merges the economy and experience directorate with other teams. The restructure follows the September departure of the community wellbeing director.
The economy and experience directorate was created in 2023 to help deliver the Commonwealth Games legacy. The Games were cancelled, and it cost over $5 billion.
Council managers earned between about $280,000 and $309,999 a year. Chief executive Evan King said the decision backs long-term financial stability.
But the exact savings are not being shared. The final structure is due by end of October after staff feedback.
