Aldi and Woolworths tie for best mayonnaise at just $2.80
Aldi and Woolworths brands tied for best mayo in a taste test at lowest price.
Consumer group Choice tested 29 mayonnaise products and crowned two supermarket budget brands as the best. Aldi's Colway Real Mayonnaise and Woolworths Whole Egg Mayo tied for first place in a comprehensive taste and appearance test.
The two winning brands cost around $2.80 a bottle, making them the cheapest options on the shelf. Colway Authentic Mayo came third.
At the other end, Coles' 97 per cent Fat Free variety was judged the worst performer. Judges said its pale appearance and gluey consistency failed to impress.
The test evaluated all products on taste, smell and appearance.
