Woolworths sales jump 6.9% on collectables campaign and value shopping
Woolworths' food sales jumped 6.9% in Q1 2027 on the Ooshies campaign and value shopping.
The supermarket giant posted food sales of $14.8 billion for Q1 2027, up 6.9 per cent year-on-year, with overall group sales jumping 4.7 per cent to $19.3 billion. The successful Ooshies campaign translated momentum into stronger numbers as budget-conscious shoppers hunt for value amid cost-of-living pressure and higher interest rates.
Amanda Bardwell noted customers are actively seeking lower prices, cheaper product options in categories like meat, and loyalty rewards. Woolworths expanded its "lower shelf price" range to more than 1,000 products, including branded goods, with average prices now lower than the same period last year.
The W Living division, which includes Big W stores and Petstock, fell 0.7 per cent to $1.4 billion, at least partly due to increased discounting and soft technology sales.
