Shannon Noll puts hand up for NRL grand final slot
Noll offered to perform at the grand final after plans with Tones and I fell through, but says he does not expect to hear from the NRL.
Shannon Noll appeared on the Today show to volunteer for the vacant NRL grand final pre-game entertainment slot. The Lift singer posted online after the original performer was unable to commit, offering his services without knowing if anyone was listening.
Noll suggested performing a tribute to late rocker Angry Anderson, saying he would sing We Can't Be Beaten. Noll proposed a setlist including his hits Lift and What About Me, plus a new track called Fire It Up.
When asked if he expected the NRL to call, Noll was realistic. "No, no, I'm not holding my breath, mate," he said.
"I don't think there'll be too many phone calls." The NRL cancelled the pre-game show to redirect the budget toward grassroots rugby league programs.
