Broome couple saves man from pit bull attack using their car
A man was attacked by three pit bulls in Broome on October 21 and rescued by neighbours using their car.
A man has been left with serious injuries after being attacked by three pit bulls on a Broome street. Miranda Shovellor heard him calling for help from outside her home and alerted her partner Stewart Turner.
When they found him being mauled, Turner used their car to fend off the dogs and drove the man to hospital. The man was later flown to Perth for treatment and discharged on Tuesday evening.
The couple said the animals had been a persistent problem on Streeter Avenue. When they tried to alert rangers before the attack, the calls went unanswered.
Rangers are not available in Broome between 6pm and 6am. The dogs roamed the street for hours after the attack before rangers contained them at 7am.
The owners consented to the dogs being euthanased and the incident is under investigation.
