UTAS Stadium catering contract set to go interstate
An interstate company, understood to be Gema Group, will take over food services from local Launceston caterers.
UTAS Stadium's new five-year food contract will go to an interstate company, understood to be Gema Group. This will replace two local Launceston businesses.
Bar Choice handled drinks and Hubert + Dan managed corporate functions. Together they served the stadium for three and five years.
Bar Choice and Hubert + Dan applied jointly but were not selected. Gema operates food services at 14 sporting venues across NSW and Queensland.
UTAS Stadium will be its first Tasmanian location. The contract covers more than 170 events across 2026 to 2030.
This includes the main stadium and newly upgraded Silverdome. It runs through the first four seasons of the Tasmania Devils' AFL competition.
There is a two-year extension option. Stadiums Tasmania said it consulted local businesses before releasing the tender in August.
Both local caterers declined to comment.
