230 residents pack council meeting to fight golf course development

More than 230 residents turned out at council to oppose splitting Wodonga's only 18-hole golf course.

A record crowd descended on Wodonga Council on Monday to fight a plan to divide the city's only 18-hole golf course. Fifty-one people packed the public gallery.

A further 180 watched the meeting via live stream at The Cube. The golf course is private, but the state government approved a fast-track scheme.

This scheme bypasses council's normal approval process. Councillors voted to share a redacted report with the Department of Transport and Planning.

A redacted version will be made public on the council website one week after submission.
