Police deliver baby after pulling speeding driver over
Police officers delivered a baby in two minutes after stopping a speeding car near Warrnambool.
On October 19 just after 2am, two Warrnambool officers pulled over a blue SUV for speeding near Dennington. When they approached the car, the driver Joel asked if they were "any good at catching babies" because his wife Jamie-Lee was in labour.
Sergeant Cook called an ambulance but there was no time to wait. Constable Hill held Jamie-Lee's hand while Sergeant Cook helped her partner deliver their second child, baby Ashlee, in under two minutes.
The ambulance arrived soon after and took the healthy baby and parents to hospital. The family reunited with the officers the next day.
Sergeant Cook's wife is a midwife and told him they did the delivery "almost textbook".
