Sampson launches free boxing network for Australian women fighters
Zahli-Star Sampson founded Starborn Female Fighters Network, a free platform connecting female boxers, coaches and promoters across Australia.
Zahli-Star Sampson started boxing at 10, quit for years, then returned about two years ago. After severe mental health struggles, she credits boxing with saving her life.
Now she wants other women to find that same lifeline. Starborn Female Fighters Network is a free space Sampson launched where women boxers of all levels can register to find fights, exhibitions, sparring partners and each other.
Coaches and promoters can join too. Sampson, who trains in Newcastle, saw how hard it was for female fighters to connect and find opponents in her region.
She plans a female sparring day in early 2027 to bring fighters together, and hopes to expand the network nationwide.

Why it mattersWomen's boxing in Australia still lags behind men's: fewer fights, less promotion, and fewer chances to build a career or get match experience.
AustraliaThe network helps female fighters across Australia find opponents and opportunities, addressing a gap that has kept many women from progressing in the sport.
