Lucy and Steph Wales reunite on field after four years apart
Twin sisters Lucy and Steph Wales meet on an AFLW field for the first time since their 2022 debut.
Lucy and Steph Wales played each other in their AFLW debut match at Marvel Stadium in August 2022. Lucy and Steph were both new ruck prospects, just drafted to their clubs.
Since then, both have faced serious injury. Steph tore her ACL in October 2024.
She made a remarkable comeback in late August 2025, two months faster than usual for such injuries. Lucy faced a sudden health crisis during an away trip to Adelaide.
Appendicitis required two bouts of bowel surgery, and she lost a total of 22cm of the organ. Despite these setbacks, Lucy has returned with extraordinary form.
She sits in contention for a maiden All-Australian selection. The pair trained hard together over the off-season.
They rebuilt Lucy's fitness and strength.
