Cummins hints at Marsh Test recall after record ODI form
Pat Cummins suggests Mitchell Marsh could return to Australia's Test team after scoring 1,544 T20 runs in 2026, most in world cricket.
Marsh has been in stunning form in limited-overs cricket, smashing three half-centuries at the top of the order in five games against Zimbabwe and South Africa on Australia's white-ball tour. No player globally has more T20 runs in 2026 than his 1,544.
Despite announcing his red-ball retirement from state cricket only, Marsh is in South Africa ahead of the three-Test series against the Proteas starting October 9. Captain Cummins told the Sydney Morning Herald "he definitely hasn't retired" and suggested Marsh should "keep some options open".
A fractured finger to backup batter Josh Inglis could open the door further. Cummins also backed Marnus Labuschagne to keep his No. 3 spot despite recent poor form.
