Farm machinery innovator Paul Ryan dies aged 63
Paul Ryan, who led Ryan NT, a 1992 Australian Inventors Award winner, has died aged 63.
Paul Ryan, whose Horsham company Ryan NT was known for no-till seeding equipment, passed away earlier this month aged 63. Ryan NT's discs, tynes and gauge wheels helped farmers optimise seeding performance and convert tined machines to disc systems.
Ryan won the prestigious Australian Inventors Award in 1992 for his innovations. The Ryan family had been involved in farm machinery for generations.
Paul's father Austin set up a business in a workshop on the family's Beulah farm. Later it moved to Warracknabeal in 1973, then Horsham.
His son Toby represents the third generation in the business. Ryan's no-till retrofits were praised by growers for cutting fuel costs and boosting efficiency.
