Renegades steal WBBL win on rare no-ball call
Melbourne Renegades beat Hobart Hurricanes on the final ball when the keeper took it just in front of the stumps.
Scores were locked at 154 runs each going into the last delivery of the Renegades' run chase in Hobart on Wednesday night. Renegades batter Deandra Dottin missed the final ball, which wicketkeeper Lizelle Lee took standing up to the stumps.
Replays showed Lee had taken the ball just in front of the stumps, triggering the rare no-ball rule and handing the Renegades a dramatic victory. The win was Melbourne's first of the season.
Hayley Matthews led the Renegades' chase with 59 runs from 44 balls, while captain Sophie Molineux claimed 4-22, taking her WBBL career tally to 101 wickets. Hurricanes captain Nicola Carey scored 62 from 43 balls in her 150th WBBL match, but the Hurricanes remain winless after three games.
