SpaceX stock jumps as Musk outlines AI chip expansion and Terafab talks
SpaceX shares rose 3% after Musk announced AI expansion targets. He reported fresh talks with TSMC on Terafab control.
SpaceX shares jumped over 3% late Sunday. Musk showed he spent wisely and set new AI goals.
Musk says SpaceX will have two new Colossus 2 facilities online in November and December. Each will hold about 220,000 Nvidia chips for training.
A third facility will hold about 200,000 chips for running AI services. Musk targets around 1.2 million Blackwell chips total by year-end.
Reports suggest Musk may ease his demand to fully control Terafab. This is opening renewed talks with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Talks would cover operational control, joint investment, and technology, packaging and component bottlenecks.
Terafab aims for its first test chip around May or June 2027. Volume production is planned for the third quarter of 2028.
