Loddon Valley league penalises premiers, boosts battlers with points handicap
Bridgewater loses two points, Pyramid Hill one; Bears Lagoon-Serpentine gains one to boost competition.
Loddon Valley league has adopted a ladder-based handicapping system for 2027 to help struggling clubs compete. Reigning premier Bridgewater drops from 44 to 42 player points.
Losing grand finalist Pyramid Hill goes from 44 to 43. Bears Lagoon-Serpentine, finishing third-last, increases from 45 to 46.
Bottom teams Calivil United and Mitiamo stay capped at 46. League chairman Richard Hicks said the change aims to spread premierships across nine different clubs over nine years.
This penalises success and rewards struggle equally. Teams between fourth and seventh keep their current allocations.

Why it mattersThe handicap forces clubs to manage player points strategically, making it harder for established winners to dominate year after year.
