ACT man convicted of 32 sex offences against 11 victims

A 46-year-old man was convicted of 32 sexual and indecent offences in an ACT Supreme Court trial. Tyson Bonfield was found guilty of abusing four family members when they were children or teenagers.
Bonfield also abused seven family friends: three teenage girls, three women and one man. The abuse occurred between the late 2000s and early 2020s.
It was not reported until December 2020 when one family member approached her mother. Police interviewed Bonfield in January 2024.
He denied wrongdoing. The trial lasted about three weeks.
The jury delivered guilty verdicts on Friday. Bonfield ranks among the most prolific sex offenders in the ACT.
