Delisted Fremantle defender Ollie Murphy says he is ready for AFL
The 21-year-old was delisted last month and would love a train-on spot at any club open to it.
Fremantle delisted Ollie Murphy last month, after three seasons at the club. The 21-year-old is a 200cm defender who was an All-Australian at under-18 level.
The club decided it could not keep him on a list with five other key defenders. Murphy says he added 16kg over three seasons and tested himself on the club's star forwards in training.
He would love a train-on spot, which means training with a club without a full contract. Clubs in the VFL, the Victorian state league, have been reaching out, along with a couple of other state league clubs.
He is back in Melbourne and training to a set routine. He hopes his future will take shape in coming weeks, potentially after the 2026 AFL Draft.
