E-bike and e-scooter crash injuries fall nearly 50 per cent after stricter laws
Hospital admissions for e-bike and e-scooter crashes on the Gold Coast fell from 347 to 179 after Queensland made stricter device rules.
In the first three months of 2026, 347 people went to Gold Coast hospitals after e-bike and e-scooter crashes. Queensland made stricter laws in July to limit unsafe devices.
Between July and September, only 179 people got hospital care for these injuries, a fall of nearly 50 per cent. E-bikes led to the most injuries, with more than 500 emergency visits across the year.
