Sister launches free wills for women after hers had none
Nicole Barry created a free will program for separated and vulnerable women. She did this after her sister died without a will.
Megan Best, 38, died suddenly in October 2025 from an undiagnosed heart condition. She had no will.
Megan's assets, personal effects and life insurance went to her estranged husband instead of her children. Nicole Barry has now launched Will Powered.
It's a free program connecting separated women with solicitors to write wills at no cost. The program, run through Women Illawarra, targets women who have experienced breakups or domestic violence.
It ensures their wishes are carried out if they die. Barry is funding it herself with monthly donations.
She is seeking support from local businesses and solicitors who work for free. The program knows that separated mothers often focus on childcare and finances.
They may not realize the danger of having no will.
