Launceston Football Club trials moveable 59-seat stand
Launceston Football Club is testing a portable 59-seat stand. It's made from a shipping container. This is cheaper than a permanent grandstand.
Windsor Park has lacked some undercover seating for decades. A $2 million field upgrade fixed the playing surface.
The club needed a low-cost way to add shelter for spectators. Launceston entered a trial with West Tamar Council and local company Adapta-Box.
They brought in a 40-foot stand made from corten steel with coating to handle weathering. The stand can be fitted with disability access.
It can be moved with basic equipment. Club president Scott Stephens said it solves a real problem.
Other clubs and councils struggle to pay for traditional grandstands. The portable design means councils could move it between sports venues or events.
This makes grants for infrastructure go further.

Why it mattersSporting clubs and small councils find it costly to get basic facilities. A moveable, durable stand under $2 million might unlock grants. It could solve facility-sharing problems across regional Australia.
AustraliaRegional sporting clubs and councils in NSW and Tasmania could adopt the design, extending the reach of each facility without building new permanent structures in every town.
