All 19 examined Canberra clubs breached reporting rules on donations
An audit found all 19 Canberra clubs examined did not meet community contribution reporting rules.
The ACT Government has ordered a review of poker machine revenue distribution. All 19 audited club licences breached reporting rules.
Canberra clubs reported nearly $7 million in community contributions last year. Greens MLA Rebecca Vassarotti questioned how much was direct financial support.
She also questioned if clubs should count in-kind donations like rooms and facilities toward their required contributions. The review will examine if the scheme is transparent.
It will also check if a central fund would work better. The government is pushing gambling reforms.
These are expected to reduce the revenue clubs have available to give away. Under ACT law, clubs must give at least 8 per cent of poker machine revenue to community purposes.
