Perth woman films python swallowing parrot whole
A carpet python was filmed swallowing a parrot whole in a Western Australia national park.
Lucy Louise was walking with her kids along the Swan View Tunnel Trail in John Forrest National Park. Lucy Louise spotted a carpet python mid-meal in a tree.
The snake had already swallowed about half the parrot. The family watched as it finished eating.
Carpet pythons are native to Western Australia. They are expert climbers and ambush predators.
They frequently target birds. These snakes strike fast, coil around prey to squeeze it, then swallow it whole.
Louise said the kids were amazed. They found it hard to watch but called it the circle of life.
