Yvette Berry misled Belconnen over pool's future, Liberal claims
FOI documents show officials warned against Berry's specific promises about Big Splash's future.
The former ACT Sports Minister Yvette Berry told residents at a community meeting on 19 February that she was 'as committed as all of you to bringing Big Splash back to how we remember it, and even better'.
Shadow Planning Minister Peter Cain has released Freedom of Information documents. They show officials had advised against making such specific promises.
An email from 20 February noted that Big Splash's future was 'unresolved'. It warned against 'creating an inference that wasn't supported'.
Government officials were still exploring options and legal risks. The pool's main pool is scheduled to reopen on 1 November.
Cain has called on Berry to explain what she knew when she made those promises.
