Nathan Hearne, 21, dies after being hit by garbage truck in Mount Druitt
Nathan Hearne, 21, was struck by a garbage truck in Mount Druitt early Thursday.
Nathan Hearne, 21, was hit by a garbage truck outside a restaurant on Luxford Road in Mount Druitt about 2.20am on Thursday. Paramedics attempted to revive him but he died at the scene.
Those who knew Hearne described him as a kind and caring person, always deeply loved. Last year, Hearne donated bone marrow to his younger brother Stevie, who has a rare inherited immune disorder called Familial Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis type 5 (FHL-5).
Stevie and his brother Colton are the only siblings formally diagnosed with the condition in Australia. Police revealed Hearne had attended Mount Druitt Police Station twice in the hours before his death and interacted with officers.
A critical incident investigation has been launched into the circumstances.
