Canberra man charged with murder of Kylee McHugh after DNA and undercover probe

Jack Henry Curtin, 27, was arrested and accused of murdering Kylee McHugh, 46.

Jack Henry Curtin was arrested for the alleged murder of Kylee McHugh. Her body was found in her Belconnen apartment after a fire on 18 May.

DNA evidence linked Curtin to the scene. Undercover officers obtained an admission from him.

The postmortem found McHugh died from serious injuries to her head and neck before the fire spread. Fire was set in five locations around the unit.

Police believe Curtin and his then-partner had been staying at McHugh's unit but left after an argument about missing cannabis. Police found messages with threats, including one saying "prepare yourself when you come back".
