Roberto Mancini's second spell as Italy coach hit a speedbump in his opening match, losing 2-0 to Belgium at home. The Azzurri responded to that defeat with a win of 4-1 against Turkey.
Alessandro Bastoni and Davide Frattesi scored in the opening half-hour, with Brentford debutant Michael Kayode adding a third before the break. Turkey pulled one back early in the second half, but Pio Esposito sealed the win.
Mancini won the European Championship with Italy in 2021 but left after the team missed the 2022 World Cup. Now Italy have also failed to qualify for the 2026 finals, their third World Cup absence in a row.
Italy face France next on Friday in the Nations League.
