Oak Flats man spared jail after hammer-fisted court warning over repeated

Manoa Lillo, 20, admitted assaulting a woman repeatedly and was handed community corrections, not prison time.

Manoa Lillo, 20, from Oak Flats near Wollongong, appeared in court on October 13 and pleaded guilty to two counts of common assault and one of property damage. The attacks began in February after an argument at a bus stop.

Manoa Lillo slapped her, grabbed her hair and pulled her to the ground, then spat on her and held her by the neck on the drive home. Days later he took her phone at a train station and smashed it.

Judge David Williams warned Lillo that any further violence would mean jail. He was placed on a one-year community correction order and must do 80 hours of unpaid work.
