Bradman Best to test free agency after Knights recruitment head leaves
The 25-year-old Knights centre will hit free agency on November 1 after eight years at Newcastle.
Bradman Best is set to make his Kanaaroos debut this weekend against Fiji, but contract talks have overshadowed his milestone. The strike centre has a year left on his Knights deal but confirmed he will test the market on November 1, with the Eels leading a rush of rival clubs to sign him.
Best suggested that Peter O'Sullivan, the club's former head of recruitment now headed to Brisbane, may have blocked a re-signing. "Now he's gone, so hopefully we can get something done," Best said.
The 25-year-old is fresh off a grand final appearance and is one of the NRL's best centres. His family's financial security drives his decision to explore options, though he said money "isn't the be all and end all" and he wants to chase a premiership with a club moving in the right direction.
