Shane Jacobson champions neurodiversity at TAFE, co-owns Dederang pub
Shane Jacobson spoke at a TAFE vocational event about celebrating neurodiversity. He described his whole family as having neurodiverse traits.
Jacobson spoke with Access Education students at Wodonga TAFE about how to support neurodiverse people. When asked what this takes, he opened his home in regional Victoria.
Jacobson showed them an ordinary family where everyone has their own quirky traits and smiles on their faces. Jacobson said he doesn't feel like he is standing up for neurodiverse people.
Instead, he is trying to let the world know how amazing they are. Jacobson and director Dean Murphy bought the historic Dederang Hotel in regional Victoria almost 12 months ago.
Their reality series Oops, I Bought A Pub aired on Channel 7 mid-year. It showed the pub's change into 2026.
For students exploring careers in media, Jacobson had a final message. True support means asking the world to celebrate a community.
It does not mean speaking for them.
