Baby quokka Quiche makes Sydney Zoo debut in visitor encounters
Seven-month-old Quiche emerged from her mother's pouch in late September and now joins Sydney Zoo's visitor encounters with her family.
Sydney Zoo's newest resident is a baby quokka named Quiche. The seven-month-old emerged from her mother Quinoa's pouch at the end of September and is already a confident member of the zoo's Quokka Encounters.
Quiche grew familiar with the encounters while still in her mother's pouch, poking her head out when visitors came near. Zoo keeper Kelly Davis says Quiche is very sweet and confident, and loves spending time with her father Quinton.
Quiche, like all quokkas, has the species' signature upturned smile. The zoo now has five quokkas and hopes to expand the population further.
