Gallen fights Asofa-Solomona weighing 33kg less on Friday

Paul Gallen will step into the ring Friday night against Nelson Asofa-Solomona, who weighed in at 137.5kg compared to Gallen's 104.18kg.

The age and weight gap is stark: Gallen, 45, weighs 33 kilograms less than his opponent and is 15 years older. Asofa-Solomona, a former New Zealand Test enforcer, promised a knockout finish.

Gallen said he is proud to compete against a much heavier, younger fighter and called it a no-lose situation for himself. The main event starts Friday afternoon at 7pm AEDT.

Asofa-Solomona claimed that some of Gallen's former Cronulla teammates have messaged him hoping he wins, stoking the already fierce Sharks-Storm rivalry. The fight is available on pay-per-view through Fox Sports and Kayo for $69.95.
