Nelson Asofa-Solomona says Gallen pushed for heavyweight boxing match

The former Storm enforcer claims Gallen reached out months ago, saying he wanted the match before he got older.

The 2019 NRL feud began when Asofa-Solomona clashed with Cronulla prop Andrew Fifita and Paul Gallen joined the confrontation. Seven years later, Gallen reached out wanting to fight him now, before Asofa-Solomona got too good and Gallen got too old.

At a gym meeting months ago, Asofa-Solomona learned Gallen will be 46 next year and believed a couple more wins would make Asofa-Solomona too hard to beat. Asofa-Solomona said yes immediately and plans to use his reach since Gallen typically clinches and dominates close-range fighting.

'I believe I'll get the job done early but I'm ready for any length,' Asofa-Solomona said.
