Wet spring weather and impaired driving spark Ballarat road safety push
Ballarat police have issued an urgent warning after serious injury collisions over the weekend as rain and spring weather continue.
Ballarat police are warning drivers to slow down after serious crashes over the weekend. The city got 36.4 millimetres of rain in 24 hours, more than half of October's normal total.
Wet roads, low visibility and changing surfaces make driving much more risky, especially with alcohol or drugs. Inspector Caroline Johnson said, "When you add wet roads, low visibility and changing road surfaces, the results can be devastating."
More rain is forecast all week. Ballarat's spring weather stays unpredictable for at least another month.
Police ask drivers to increase space between cars, match speed to conditions and never drive if affected by alcohol or drugs.
