Kylie King wins Albury mayoral race in 5-3 council vote
Kylie King was elected Albury mayor in a 5-3 council vote.
Albury councillors voted Kylie King back into the mayor's seat on Monday night, defeating Kevin Mack 5-3. King previously served as mayor for nearly three years.
King lost the election two years ago. King said she was humbled by the honour and noted the council's current financial challenges.
King promised to work with fellow councillors to rebuild community confidence and trust. Phil Bullivant was elected deputy mayor, defeating Jess Kellahan 6-3.
The election was the first mayoral vote watched over by new chief executive Jason Gordon. He had been in his role at the council for only 20 days.
King ruled out any federal ambitions, saying Albury has her complete focus. She will not pursue nomination for the Farrer federal seat.
