Two men from Western Australia were killed when a light plane crashed near Scone Aerodrome in NSW's Upper Hunter on Friday afternoon. Revel Downing, 58, and a 63-year-old man had travelled east to inspect and buy the aircraft, worth about $38,000.
Flight tracking data showed the plane climbed to about 145 metres before rapidly losing speed and altitude. The aircraft is believed to have entered an uncontrollable spin before hitting the ground.
