ACT man jailed four years for possessing 469 child abuse files
Ian Gregory Beale, 67, received four years jail with three-year non-parole period for possessing and transmitting child abuse files.
A 67-year-old ACT man was sentenced on Wednesday to four years jail. Ian Gregory Beale had 469 files of child abuse.
Beale pleaded guilty to three charges of using the internet to access, possess and send the material. Chief Justice Lucy McCallum said the files showed children aged from six months to 15 years.
Beale used the app Kik to speak with three people. One was someone he believed was a 15-year-old girl.
He sent and received child abuse material with them. The Chief Justice found he showed no remorse.
When arrested, he claimed he had been hacked years earlier and knew nothing about it. She said his explanations "must have been a lie" given his guilty pleas.
Beale will be eligible for release in October 2029.
